Business District

«  Like the immortal Titans, the future seems to belong to them. »

For centuries, Man has been building buildings and monuments dedicated to trade and finance. With economic development, these "pagan temples" occupy entire and increasingly vast districts. In order to assert their power and win the trust of the citizens, these squares became places where luxury and architectural extravagance rubbed shoulders. All over the world; magnificent, imposing, luminous, they carry the arrogance of a beauty that is sure of itself.

2008, the world enters a crusade against finance, traders become the new plague victims. The spotlight is on these financial centers. Doing "business" becomes almost a crime. The aura of these places and institutions is blurred and disintegrating. Financial systems are paradoxically the cause and solution to problems...

My "Business districts" are a metaphor for my vision of global economic activity. The buildings burn, dilute, dissolve… but do not fall, they remain straight, imposing and proud.

Urban Tensions

Less is more. » -  Ludwig Mies van der Rohe

In these architectural photographs, Frederic-JG does not try to reproduce reality as it can be viewed passively. As if it were people, his main objective is to portray it, not an "objective" portrait in full, but rather a "suggested" portrait, a close-up.

His approach is to find the primary feature of the Architect, the initial idea, the detail at the origin of the whole.

Once this mind is captured, his work consists in extracting the idea from its context. Tightening the framing allows it to eliminate the superfluous, highlighting these details, essence of the building's personality. This foregrounding stage attracts the public who recognizes something.

By changing perspective, or from a point of view, the spectator questions himself, sometimes wondering what he has in front of him. He seeks to understand, understand and taste through photography the Art of the Architect.

Frederic-JG's photographs are simple, readable, but they force the viewer to position themselves in space to take his place, to put his eye in his viewfinder.

When the observer appropriates his photograph, there is his reward.

Deep Forests

Enchanted and mythical, wild or deserted, the forest is the land of adventure, of magic, of danger. This place where strange things can happen. Propitious to meditation and dreams, it is also often the breeding ground on which we cultivate our childhood memories.

My forests are meant to be imaginary, the trees can talk, remember... Look! You may see elves, a giant, a unicorn... Or simply feel a sense of quietude and well-being.

Exprmntl Blue

In some photo forums we often hear : " shame the sky was not blue, would be better with a blue sky " … In this series about architecture I decided that the sky would always be blue, always the same blue, not the Ikb 191, the famous Klein blue, but a personal mix 99% Cyan, 73% Magenta 11% Yellow. His name : Exprmntl Blue

Deserted Weapon Factory - D.W.F.

A factory in which men built weapons. A factory which made live a town. A factory which closed its doors …

In its walls a considerable energy was spread, this energy is always there. In this series I wanted to show that even in an abandoned place, the energy persists, that it is possible to make it relive, to transform it. In this original matrix the life is going to return.

Today these buildings are reborn in the form of zones of leisure activities, of cultural areas, some become again workplaces.

By means of the people factories do not die.
